Located 9 km northwest of Brisbane’s CBD, Everton Plaza was over 40 years old when purchased by Reds Group. Operating since 1969 and fronting two major arterial roads, the small village-style shopping hub had lost the hearts and minds of locals and tenants, making it ripe for transformation.

Hoyne’s Place Visioning® process was employed for Everton Plaza in collaboration with Reds Group. It identified the site’s longevity and prime location as strengths but realised these needed to evolve to meet modern consumer expectations and trends in retail and entertainment. Key to a revitalised Everton Plaza would be retail curation, drawcard F&B, and a new overall appearance – while achieving the client’s goal to achieve all of this without the need to get a DA before undertaking construction.

Hoyne created a Place Vision to return Everton Plaza to its roots, along with a brand and leasing campaign for the relaunch. To boost social media engagement, we designed a sensory-rich, Instagrammable space which, when completed, featured greenery, murals, neon lighting, new signage, and a tram shell transformed into public restrooms.

Everton Plaza, once outdated, is now a vibrant retail and foodie hub for Brisbane’s north. Reds Group credits Hoyne’s place concepts as pivotal to its success. The reimagined plaza, featuring diverse tenants, entertainment, the buzzing Park Lane, and extended trading hours, has significantly increased in value, becoming a model suburban retail destination, recognised for its broad appeal and distinctive character.
