A new benchmark in Australian city-shaping: making Bradfield City Centre extraordinary

  • Place Visioning®

On the doorstep of the new Western Sydney Airport, Bradfield City Centre is being heralded as Australia’s first 22nd-century city: a future-focused hub for advanced manufacturing, science, research, and education. It’s an evolving innovation ecosystem that will shape new industries, foster enterprise, and drive Australia’s next chapter of economic growth.

Spanning 115 hectares, the masterplan sets a new national standard for integrated city design. 30 hectares have been earmarked for industrial, commercial and residential uses, while over 50 hectares are dedicated to open space, preserving natural beauty, embedding Connection to Country principles, and honouring Indigenous custodianship.

Hoyne worked in close partnership with the Western Parkland City Authority (WPCA) through our proprietary Place Visioning® process, engaging a diverse mix of internal and external stakeholders. Across 15 workshops over 12 weeks, we brought to life a compelling, cohesive and future-ready vision — one that not only inspires but enables.

This process aligned the WPCA Board around a shared ambition, giving them the clarity and confidence to make foundational decisions on land use, anchor tenants, open space and activation, all while shaping a city that is green, connected and advanced.

The Bradfield City Centre vision is more than aspirational: it’s a strategic blueprint that supports NSW policy, weaves together multiple interests, and responds to (while also informing) the city’s broader planning frameworks. The result? A 24/7 city of culture, creativity and innovation, and a living landscape designed for extraordinary futures.
