- Placebook®
Initially opened as a hospitality and performance space, In The Hanging Garden was conceived by the creators of Dark Mofo to become a welcoming meeting place for locals and a lively destination for visitors. Subsequently, a master plan was developed to amplify the broader precinct’s potential to become a destination that celebrates the city’s essence, incorporating food and beverage outlets, performance spaces, retail, commercial offices, a hotel, and other residential solutions which will benefit the city.
In a partnership between Darklab and Riverlee, Hoyne collaborated with the architecture, heritage, Indigenous, and design teams to refine the vision for the project and articulate its role as a pivotal central location for the city of Hobart. The Placebook® we produced emphasised the city of Hobart’s role as an emerging cultural capital and identified the principles and features that would drive the project’s community-minded and long-term commercial success.
In The Hanging Garden will become a substantial destination in the Hobart CBD, benefiting locals, visitors, and commercial organisations. The halo effect of this incredible development will positively impact surrounding businesses and the cultural experience of the city as a whole. Our Placebook® has become the project’s most vital storytelling advocate, successfully engaging community, government, political, and financial stakeholders. It has played an invaluable role in garnering support for the planning proposal submission.
